Please be aware of the following points regarding communicating your affiliation in publications, as communicated by the previous head of the department, Markus Püschel. These guidelines are important as they create a consistent way of representing us to the outside, ensuring that everybody contributes to the international reputation of ETH and our department.
- In every publication the affiliation should include the university and the department. By ETH regulations, the university has to be written as "ETH Zurich" or "ETH Zürich". Anything else is not allowed by ETH regulations — in particular, not "Swiss Federal Institute of Technology" or "ETH Zentrum".
- If a publication venue asks you to spell out ETH, you can say that ETH is part of the official name and is not spelled out.
- The department should be included in the affiliation, typically as "Department of Computer Science".
- Other entities, such as institutes or centers, can of course be added in addition to the department.
