The group still maintains a DigitalOcean account, but it is now rarely used. In most cases, group members should use the VM or HPC infrastructure instead.
DigitalOcean should only be considered when there is a specific reason why the group's own infrastructure or other ETH resources are unsuitable. Examples include Internet measurement experiments or security- and attack-related experiments for which using ETH infrastructure could raise operational, reputational, or policy concerns.
Access to the NetSec DigitalOcean team is managed by the group's cloud administrators, with support from the IT Coordinators. Access is normally granted through an invitation sent to your ETH email address.
Using DigitalOcean incurs monetary costs. All usage must comply with ETH Zürich IT policies, including the Acceptable Use Policy for Telematics Resources ("BOT"). Confidential data, including student data, grades, and assignment results, must not be transferred to DigitalOcean.
