When looking for a student to work on a thesis or semester project, always check the NetSec student project application system first:

This system is the primary entry point for students applying to conduct a bachelor's thesis, master's thesis, or semester project with the group. It records all submitted applications and should be consulted before advertising or assigning a project through other channels.

If there is no suitable applicant and you would like to propose a predefined project, the project can be published on the NetSec website:
https://netsec.ethz.ch/projects/

Publishing the project on the website is not enough on its own — students who have subscribed to the announcement list are not notified automatically. After the project is live, send an email announcing it to:
netsec-project-announce@lists.inf.ethz.ch
The email must be sent from an
inf.ethz.chaddress. Messages from other addresses will not reach the list.
Subscribed students then receive the announcement and can apply through the application system.
